The John Muir Green Burial Sanctuary is operated by a two-person team who have worked together and been married for over 18 years.
Michael Murphy CFA, Chief Executive Officer, graduated from Harvard College with an AB cum laude in economics. Michael has owned green burial-size properties, including a 227-acre property that he developed with roads, electric power, a well, a septic system, an organic chestnut tree orchard, meadows, and organic certification. He is the CEO and editor of The New World Investor, and California Technology Stock Newsletter for 30 years, having been rated as a top U.S. stock market newsletter for decades.
Dr. Diana Cunningham (ND-ret., MA), President & Chief Operating Officer, graduated from Smith College as a Smith Scholar with a BA in a combined major of comparative religions, psychology and Women’s Studies. She received her MA in Psychology from the Western Institute for Social Research, trained as a Naturopath in the Northwest, and went on to the UK to study classical homeopathic medicine for three years. She practiced homeopathy for 23 years, working primarily with children. Diana became interested in the work of Dr. Kubler-Ross and Stephen Levine through her inner grief work around the deaths of her parents. Through a mentorship with the Shared Heart Foundation, where she is on the Board of Directors, Diana developed a new vocation in grief work, natural deathcare, and green burial care.
